Airport logistics Siemens presents its future-oriented airport portfolio at the Passenger Terminal Expo

  • March 26 - 28, 2019 in ExCeL London, Building S1-10, Booth 2020

At this year’s Passenger Terminal Expo in London, Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics (SPPAL) is presenting its broad portfolio of hardware and software for airports and airlines. From efficiency-enhancing baggage handling systems and cloud-based technologies up to comprehensive service offerings, SPPAL provides a range of solutions and systems to further improve vital airport processes. The Siemens team will be welcoming trade visitors from March 26 to 28, 2019, in Hall S1-10, Booth 2020 at the ExCeL in London.

Visitors will be introduced to the continuously enhanced and extremely reliable VarioTray technology. It offers significant advantages in baggage handling, particularly for airports with a high volume of transfer passengers.

The innovative SmartTray forms an excellent basis for predictive maintenance of baggage handling systems: Intelligent sensors on different components record measurements and data, which are stored in MindSphere, the open, cloud-based Internet of Things operating system from Siemens. Innovative applications access the collected information, which can represent factors like deviating vibration or distance values, then analyze it and employ it for preventive maintenance activities. The effect is enhanced availability, lifetime and performance of baggage handling systems. In addition, the planning of future maintenance activities is markedly improved and operating costs can be reduced to a minimum.

At the exhibition, SPPAL will also be presenting future-oriented digital solutions for optimized, seamless airport processes. Thus, Siemens is continuing to drive developments of its comprehensive portfolio for Aviation 4.0 – both in baggage handling and freight logistics.

The Siemens team is looking forward to meeting customers and partners at the Passenger Terminal Expo in London to exchange information and ideas with them and discuss growing demands in the aviation industry.
