Swedish Post orders further sorting machines from Siemens
Posten, a part of Swedish PostNord, is modernizing its sorting centers in Alvesta, Malmö, Gothenburg, Sundsvall and Arsta with machines from Siemens. For pre-sorting to sequence sorting, eight further machines of the Culler Facer Canceller (CFC) 3004 type will be employed. Along with standard letters, it can process flats all the way to the C4 format. Commissioning of the machines in the existing sorting centers is planned for the end of 2015. In 2010 and 2012, PostNord ordered a total of twelve machines of this type for operations in Denmark and Sweden.
The new CFC 3004 machines will replace previous models of Siemens sorting machines, which have been in service for many years. As such, now and for the future Swedish Post is counting on a proven combination of a CFC and a Reading and Video Coding machine in one. Integrating all functions into one continuous letter flow saves time, space and manpower.
Furthermore, the new machines can selectively relabel barcodes and are equipped with a weighing module. This module enables dynamic weighing of standard letters and flats up to a weight of 300 grams. Thanks to the weighing modules, which are calibrated with a tolerance of 2 grams, it is now possible to fully automatically recognize items with insufficient postage.
