Remco Overwater takes up key position at Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics
On June 15, 2015, Remco Overwater (57) took up the position of Head of Sales and Project Execution at Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics GmbH (SPPAL). In his new position, he is responsible for global sales and project management in the mail and parcel sorting as well as in the baggage and air-cargo handling businesses.
Overwater, a mechanical engineering graduate, has had many years of experience in management positions in medium-sized companies in the logistics sector. For example, as Managing Director/Member of the Executive Board at Vanderlande Industries, he was responsible for the Warehouse Automation and Parcel & Postal business units. Overwater, a native Dutchman, also brings to the role his extensive expertise in strategic consulting and in the implementation of numerous international projects. In this key role, he succeeds Michael Lampen, who is leaving the company by mutual agreement. Lampen will continue to serve Siemens in an advisory capacity over the next few months.
Since June 1, 2015, SPPAL has been run as a new, independent company under the Siemens umbrella. As "Logistics and Airport Solutions", the mail and parcel sorting together with the baggage and air-cargo handling business has been a well-known operator on the market for many years. The carve-out in Germany is a decisive step aimed at giving the company a stable, flexible and permanent position on the market as a leading provider of technology and solutions for logistics processes.
