Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics GmbH (SPPAL) has a new global setup. The business with mail and parcel as well as baggage and cargo handling systems is backed by a global network of regional companies and branch offices. SPPAL CEO Michael Reichle: “Our company is perfectly positioned to maximize customer benefit by addressing customer needs locally and carry out project management on site." The global setup is a decisive step for SPPAL to maintain its position as a leading provider of technology and solutions for logistics processes and stay stable, flexible and sustainable in the medium-sized competitive environment.

Apart from Germany, Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics has its own European regional companies in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) the company has an excellent reputation under the name SD (Middle East) LLC thanks to its successful long-standing joint venture with Al Moosa Group Investment LLC. In the Asian market, SPPAL has its own companies in Singapore, India, China and Hong Kong. The Americas are covered by regional companies in the USA and Canada.

The company also has local branch offices with its own employees in Turkey, Taiwan, Malaysia and South Korea. As a fully-owned subsidiary of Siemens, SPPAL can count on the established sales channels in many other countries.

The focus of the regional companies is on sales and marketing, project management and service. Moreover, SPPAL has its own research and development centers in Germany, the USA, China, the UAE, Singapore, Portugal and Switzerland. The engineers work on innovative products and solutions across these locations to meet current and future customer requirements.

SPPAL’s main customers include large international airports and airlines as well as postal and parcel service providers with global logistics networks. Close local customer contact and on-site project management have been among the particular strengths of the company for years.

Among the most significant current projects is the construction of a new baggage handling system for Southwest Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport in the USA. In Singapore, Siemens has won an order from Singapore Post to equip a new logistics hub with an integrated parcel sorting system. The company is currently expanding the Cargo Mega Terminal at Dubai International Airport for Emirates airlines, and has installed a state-of-the-art material handling system for air cargo at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai World Central. In addition, SPPAL has just successfully completed the expansion of a modern air cargo system for Taiwan Air Cargo Terminal Ltd.
